About Saint Helena

The British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha comprises three remote island communities in the Atlantic. Saint Helena is one of the most remote islands in the world and is the site of the Emperor Napoleon’s six-year imprisonment until his death in 1821. The island boasts several endemic species of plants and animals, so it is appealing to nature enthusiasts as well as historians.
