Is covid-19 vaccination free for travel?

Canadians can get free covid-19 vaccinations for travel, or any purpose.

Can I get boosted with the Pfizer vaccine if I’ve had a dose of Moderna?

The Government of Canada advises that all covid vaccines are interchangeable. So, for example, if you have been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca or Moderna covid-19 vaccine, you can safely get boosted with a dose of Pfizer covid-19 vaccine.

Do I need proof of covid-19 vaccination for my trip abroad?

Under pandemic conditions governments have been changing their conditions of entry rapidly and with little notice. This means that a country that previously did not require entering travellers to prove their vaccination status may subsequently require such proof at the border.

How far ahead of my trip do I need to get vaccinated for covid?

Some governments have a time limit on the final dose of vaccine. This varies between vaccine brands.

For example, France says that your final dose of Oxford, AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNtech and Moderna must be at least seven days before you travel; and the second dose of Johnson & Johnson must be at least 28 days before you travel.

It can take three to four weeks for a visa application to go through, so if you are getting vaccinated to obtain a visa, be sure to leave plenty of time.
