Risk / Health Info for Niue

Canadian Travel Clinics can help you work out what vaccinations you need to go to Niue.

Medical facilities on Niue are limited and evacuation to New Zealand may be necessary for serious injuries or illnesses.

Travellers are advised to take precautions against bug bites to avoid illnesses such as chikungunya. Practise safe food and water precautions.

If you travel outside Canada you need travel insurance to make sure you are covered for any medical costs, no matter where you’re going or how long you’ll be there. Before you leave the country, check with your provincial or territorial health authority for more information.

About Niue

The island of Niue is a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand. Because the international dateline lies between them there is a time difference of a day. It is a favoured destination for divers.

Pandanu weaving is lovely. If you are lucky, someone will teach you how to do it yourself. There are many caves and limestone arches to explore on the island, but there are few sandy beaches.
